On the 16th of Sept 2010, MEMC Uganda was registered in Kampala. This gives MEMC a formal entry into Uganda and the Great lake regions. NEMA Uganda is expected to shortly issue operating license to MEMC-Uganda. The chairman and directors of MEMC is indebted to Nsubuga Elizabeth Bakaawa for her efforts in getting this unit registered and set up of the office as well as operationalisation of the same. To Elizabeth, we say "Thank You".

Samuel G.L. Balagadde
(B Tech. in Food Science, MBA, FSMS and QMS Auditor, Value Chain Expert) -Lead Expert
Mr. Samuel G. L. Balagadde is the International Liaison Officer, Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) and the Officer in charge of the Codex Office at UNBS. He has worked with WHO and FAO in establishing the National Codex Committee aimed at strengthening food control in Uganda. Mr. Balagadde has been involved in Quality Assurance for 13 years. He is a trainer of
Quality and Food Safety Management Systems including ISO 9001:2008, ISO 22000:2005, HACCP and GMP. He has been involved in providing expert service to the fish sector to comply with the EU requirements. He is proficient in in-depth analysis of technical problems and offer hands on experience based on experience as the Food Component Coordinator, Uganda Integrated Programme of UNIDO. Mr. Balagadde has attained professional training in the areas of standardization, Quality Management Systems and Food Safety Management Systems based on International Standards and undertaken consultancy work with Industry, Hotels, African Development Foundation (ADF), National Organic Agricultural Movement of Uganda (NOGAMU) and DANIDA. He is responsible for providing quality assurance and business analysis to client’s projects.
Ms. Christine Namirembe Katende,

Ms. Christine Namirembe is the Registrar of Titles, Ministry of Lands and Environment (Uganda). She has also worked with Platform for Labour Action, Bamwine Walubiri and Co. Advocates and Kituo cha Katiba. Her career has led her to specialize in dealing with the civil service and the public in general on various levels towards achievement and enjoyment of various
fundamental human rights like constitutional rights, labour rights and rights to hold and use land. Her career has led her to specialize in dealing with the civil service and the public in general on various levels towards achievement and enjoyment of various fundamental human rights like constitutional rights, labour rights and rights to hold and use land.
Ms. Namirembe has trained in Management, Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting; and has acquired modern leadership skills through staff motivation, involvement in decision making and target setting, clarity in communication and easy interpersonal relations. She has ability to undertake an in-depth analysis of technical problems related to land administration and geographical information. Christine is responsible for providing legal opinion on level of compliance of the services provided to client and risks on client’s business during review.
